Product End of Life

Today we are announcing the end of life for PC/OS 2007, 2008, 2009.  After December 29, 2013 these systems will no longer be issued any security or application fixes.  We are in the process of shutting down the repositories and taking them offline.  The security repository will remain online for 6 months to allow users of those systems to get the last update pack which will include:

Linux kernel 2.6.32-61
GTK 2 will be updated to the last release
Libc6 will be included so you guys can actually self compile some software for these systems
Firefox and Thunderbird are no longer supported and no updates will be released so the web browser and mail client will be removed and replaced with the latest version of Opera.
All security updates from April 2012 to April 2013 upon which Canonical ended their support for 8.04

And that is the end of the road for those releases.  I really want to thank everyone who helped me back then to make those releases a success and for the customers who stuck by them and continued to use them until 2013 and for those stubborn ones who still love that system and will continue to use it until the hardware they run it on says its final goodnight, thank you as well.

Now, I actually had someone who sent me an e-mail about OS/4u Alpha 2.0 aka the AlphaOS aka AlphanumericOS, which was released in 2004.  It was based on Gentoo, and now we have officially decided to announce End Of Life for that product as well.  Although being 10 years old, I cant really bring you guys any kind of fix since the source code for that release is loooooooong gone and I actually have a binary copy somewhere but I dont have the boot floppy.  But, thank you as well.

Now for those of you that wish to upgrade you can purchase a copy of the newest releases of PC/OS, or download the latest release of OS/4 OpenLinux 14.1 from the download page.

PC/OS Enterprise Linux

Now, we are going to try to round up the old ISO's and install media for all of our vintage releases of OS/4u and PC/OS 2007, 2008, 2009 and upload those under the 'retro releases' folder on our library site.  They are to be admired, laughed at but definitely not for production use.
